Bringing Real-World Math Into the Classroom
Cleveland Middle Schoolโs 7 Silver Team experienced a meaningful and engaging math lesson as Brian and Emily Patterson of Sweet Emmaline Cheesecakes brought real-world business into the classroom. Through an interactive Q&A session, students explored how math connects to entrepreneurship, budgeting, pricing, and business growth. The experience allowed students to see firsthand how numbers influence creativity, decision-making, and long-term success.

A Sweet Lesson to Remember
The lesson concluded with a special treat that left students smiling โ a reminder that authentic, hands-on learning experiences make education both memorable and impactful.
Adding to the significance of the day, Emily Patterson โ the original creator of the very first Sweet Emmaline cheesecake โ once walked the halls of Cleveland Middle School herself. Her return represented more than a classroom visit; it was a powerful full-circle moment. From CMS student to successful entrepreneur, her journey served as a real-world example that the skills students develop today can become the foundation for future achievement.

Building Community
Cleveland Middle School extends sincere appreciation to Sweet Emmaline Cheesecakeโs for investing in students and demonstrating that math extends far beyond the classroom โ it is a tool for opportunity, innovation, and success. Special recognition is also given to CMS Teacher of the Year Candyce Bates for leading her 7 Silver math classroom beyond traditional instruction and intentionally connecting learning to real-world success stories that affirm a lasting truth: when preparation meets perseverance, Raiders donโt just find their path โ they forge it.
